Ursuline Sisters foundation established in India/Tezpur in 1976

In 1976 the Ursuline Sisters of Tildonk, Ranchi were invited to Jorhat to uplift the poor tribals in Assam through education. Sisters did evangelization and gave medical aid.
Sr. Mary Rose Ekka, Sr. Marcella Kujur and Sr. Evelyn Lakra were the pioneers who arrived on 16/10/1976. The mission belonged to the undivided Ursuline Province of India and was a District of Ranchi Province until 1997 when it became a Province.

The candle of God’s love has attracted more than 102 sisters who are witnessing the love of God in education, social work, pastoral work, family visit, prayer among others in 10 districts located in 3 states of India.
