The four Ursuline Missionaries, Sr. Gonzaga Murless, Sr. Ursula Greenslode, Sr. Antoine Anneessens, Sr. Sabime Van Seybrock arrived in Ranchi, from Belgium on January 13,1903. They started a school for poor tribal girls and a lace school and a centre offering employment to poor and illiterate women. This mission was the undivided Province of India which was divided in 1997 into 3 Provinces and one District.

Presently Ranchi Province is a centre for education of young women. More than 386 Sisters dedicate their lives to witness the love of God through education, pastoral work, and social work, health care. Sisters are serving in 19 districts located in 6 states and 2 territories of India as well as in South America, so that all may have life and have it to the full. (Jn 10, 10).
